Stewartry Athletic Club are keen to recognise the effort and achievements put in by our young Athletes, and two such Athletes were rewarded recently when the received the Club Awards for ‘Junior Athlete of the Year – male & female:

For session 2014/15 the Awards went to:

• Sabrina Henry      Junior Female Athlete
• Cameron Muffett  Junior Male Athlete

The outdoor season drew to a close for Stewartry AC with a good turnout, especially in the Junior sections, at the Dumfries and Galloway Championships.

Some notable performances were:

• Isaac Scott             1st  U11 80m      12.0s     PB
• Cameron Muffett    3rd  U13 100m   14.4s
• Sabrina Henry        2nd U15  100m   13.5s    PB   &   2nd U15 High Jump    1.30m
• Euan Kemp            2nd U15  100m   12.5s    PB   &   1st  U15 High Jump    1.35m
• Ross Clark             2nd  U15 Shot
• Rebecca McClune 2nd  U15 Discus   &   3rd  Shot

Euan Kemp and Sabrina Henry were this years only representatives at the National Championships this year. Both competing in this event for the first time they performed well although niether reached the final in their respective events. Sabrina in the 100 and 200m and Euan in the 200 and 300m, at under 15 levels gained some valuable experience, with Sabrina still able to compete in this age group next year.

Euan produced an excellent time in his 300m setting a new PB of 40.4s.
